RRW Weekly Roundup for the week ending December 16, 2017

I haven’t posted a weekly (or monthly) roundup for awhile because truthfully I find writing them boring!  Every day I get up and find many new and more appealing stories than the ones I wrote yesterday, last week, or last year and spend my limited time on those.

Merry Christmas

Unless something huge breaks in the next few weeks, expect a little slowdown in posting here at RRW.

Today I have an ulterior motive (besides wishing you a Merry Christmas!) because I have used the roundups as opportunities to fill you in on basic logistical issues.  We have so many new readers that I must from time to time discuss some of those items.

But, first, below are the Top Three Posts of the past week (top posts over the last day are in the right hand sidebar which reminds me that you will get so much more from RRW by visiting the site directly by clicking here rather than relying on an e-mail subscription controlled (!) by wordpress).

Readers liked these posts the best over the last week:

The Rohingya narrative driven by ‘human rights activists’ is a big lie

Mormon church donates $5 million to nine federal refugee resettlement contractors

Canada’s Immigration Minister visits Minnesota and says, please don’t come across our southern border!

Top Ten Countries from which readers arrived in the last week in descending order (excluding the US of course):

Canada

UK

Australia

South Africa

Turkey

India

Germany

Netherlands

France

Kenya

I’m guessing that Turkey and Kenya have broken in to the top ten because refugees/officials there are trying to figure out what is happening to them now that President Trump has slowed the flow out of those two big processing countries.

For new readers and old readers who might not know, here are those logistical issues I need to mention:

~I screen comments and I am pretty lousy at getting to them quickly.  As I said, I like reading and writing, but not the other things that go along with it.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy most comments, but know that I can’t read ones that come with many links, videos etc.  I screen out threats of violence and foul language and because it’s my blog sometimes I screen out points of view that I vehemently disagree with (no time to get in to a big back and forth!).

~I do appreciate everyone sending me e-mails, but I have blinders on and can only focus on ones that are pertinent to the subject I’m concentrating on.  If I tried to answer every e-mail I get, I would have to quit. I try really hard to work writing on refugees in to my life. If I have no other life then I would go nuts!  My e-mail address is refugeewatcher@gmail.com.

~I’ve been increasing my presence on twitter (@refugeewatcher) and on facebook (RefugeeInfoResource), so follow me there from time to time.  My facebook page is moderated jointly with an experienced facebooker (I’m not one!), so you might see things there that you don’t see here.  By the way, in the last week facebook sent the most readers to RRW followed by search engines and then twitter.

~Please explore RRW. There are informative links at the top of the page. There are categories in the left hand side bar. One of those categories is blogging and that is where all of my past roundups can be found.  And, since I’ve written almost 9,000 posts since 2007, use wordpress’s excellent search window using a few key words and I’m sure you will find some thing you didn’t know.

~And, last, thank you for gifts and notes of thanks and appreciation sent to my snail mail address in the left hand sidebar.  I don’t seek contributions because I’ve always looked at my work as my charitable gift to America, however I do appreciate your thoughtfulness.  But, remember RRW is not an organization, it is just me and my computer (no staff, no interns, no office!)

That’s all for now! Have a wonderful Christmas season!

Thank you for visiting RRW and come back soon!
